Heart Attack Grill

Yummy.  Nothing like going to a fast food joint to get a burger, a pack of smokes, and some T&A.  Come on, really?  How long do you think a place like this can last in today's world. Although I must say that the food looks tasty... even if it does give you a heart attack.

Got the new Metallica CD

I got the new Metallic CD yesterday.  It's called Death Magnetic.  Quick thoughts.  I really like "The Day that Never Comes", and "Cyanide".  The rest of the songs are great too, but those are my favorites.  Over all, I like it.  It is not the best ablum from Metallica, that still goes to the Black Album.  It is, however, a large step forward from St. Anger.  I am eager to hear more from the greatest band of all time.

I would give it a 6 out of 10.

In 1990, the shuttle Discovery launched the most well known telescope into space. The Hubble Space Telescope. Now, in 2008, the shuttle Atlantis will visit Hubble for the last time.

STS-125 mission will install upgrades and provide servicing that will ensure that Hubble will keep its orbit for at least the next five years. By that time, the shuttle fleet will have been retired from service. This mission is scheduled to last for 11 days. The launch is scheduled for October 10, 2008 and can be viewed on
SpaceVidCast.

Rock-Tech.tv will provide reports on the launch and the mission as well.

I Have Been Drafted

Here I am, a proud member of the United States Air Force.  I thought that I would be spending the upcoming winter in the comfort of my warm apartment in North Dakota.  I guess I was wrong.  It looks like I have been drafted to enlist in the Army.  The TWiT Army.

The TWiT Army is yet another Twitter clone that is ran by Twit.tv featuring Leo Laporte.  Like other micro-blogging status sites in its catagory, TWiT Army provides 140 characters per post to its users for free.  The feature that stands out to me the most is its "Camo Twit" theme.  The site features a camouflage theme called the TWiT Army Canteen.  In addition to a stylish design, the TWiT Army brings together the followers of Leo Laporte.

Laporte is a Technology broadcaster and blogger.  His career has seen him as one of the primary hosts of various shows on then TechTV, including Call for Help and The Screensavers.  After the merger and re-branding of TechTV to G4 TV, Laporte left the network and started netcasting This WEEK in TECH.  Laporte currently owns and operates a netcast network... TWiT.tv, derived from the flagship podcast This WEEK in TECH.  He also hosts an online stream called TWiT Live and broadcasts via Stickam.

Blogger It Is!

After a couple weeks filled with a lot of aggravation, I have decided to go with the Blogger platform for the Rock-Tech.tv Blog and Homepage.  The url: http://www.rock-tech.tv will point to the Blogger site and will contian all the base elements for the site.  In addition to using Blogger, I will continue the rising sense of Google Theme-ology by placing subsidiary pages on a Google Sites account.  Until Blogger decides to give its users the ability to add more pages to our blogs, this will have to full these needs.

If anyone is wondering why I have forgone the use of a standard HTML site, it is becuase for the time being, the WYSIWYG interface of Blogger will allow me to focus on getting content published.  I do not know enough about CSS to use and edit a good Wordpress theme and a traditional HTML site requires to much formatting and maintenance.  In the future I will dabble in CSS.

Pages like Videos, Photos, Social Feeds, and other Specials will be posted on a Google Sites account and linked to from within the blog.  On top of that, you will be able to find Rock-Tech.tv on many other socail media sites, such as YouTube, Blip, Myspace, Facebook, ect.

After Rock-Tech.tv gets off the ground, I will begin efforts to free the site from the dependance of these sites.  I would rather host my own sites, and use the third parties for additions to the bigger picture or as a back up.  If you have any suggestions on how to make Rock-Tech.tv better, post a comment bellow or shoot me an email.  mailto:dcvining@gmail.com

Geeks!

Chrome Update 001

Chrome Update: I have noticed that the Flash plugin is not as stable as I would like right now. I am finding myself going back to Firefox to view videos. Is this just me, or have you noticed this as well? Comment Back. :/
